Grade 5 Beginner Instrumental Registration - 2023-2024
Each year at this time, students eagerly wait their turn to join the band. The study of a musical instrument could be one of the most valuable steps in your child’s education. Playing an instrument provides enjoyment and helps students develop responsibility, mental discipline, teamwork and self-esteem. All instruction is free and students will receive instruction during the school day.

- Talk to your child about what they would like to play based on what they saw or experienced!
- Complete the Registration Form
- Get a quality instrument. We will be sending out more information on different ways to obtain an instrument. The important part right now is to get your child registered to begin band!

Sign up for an audition with your Band DIrector no later than Friday, January 13, 2017
Auditions will take place the week of January 23-26, 2017
- Students in Grades 6-8 from all four Grammar Schools (CGS, Marsh, Tenney, Timony)
- Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Guitar, Bass and Drum set
- If accepted, students must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances. (see below)
HOW TO AUDITION
- See your Band Director to Sign up for an audition by Friday, January 13, 2017.
- Prepare the Audition Music and Scales provided below. (Memorization is not required)
- Your individual audition day and time will be sent to your Band Director once school signups are completed.
- Attend your audition on the asigned date and time. (Auditions will take place after school at the Tenney Grammar School)

The Tenney Band has has once again been asked to perform in the Methuen Santa Parade. We will be performing from one of the Tenney PTO floats. Students will be selected based on filling a well balanced ensemble. Due to the nature of the performance and limited space, this opportunity is open to the following grades and instruments:
Grade 7 & Grade 8: Saxophones, Trumpets, Trombones & Percussion.
