House of Blues, Blues Schoolhouse
Grades 7 & 8 Band Field Trip

Grades 7 and 8 Band students are invited to attend a field trip to Boston’s House of Blues to see “A Musical Journey Through History”, a program that is designed to educate students on the history of music in America.  Blues Schoolhouse is the legacy program of the International House of Blues Foundation, which traces the history of the blues from its roots in African musical traditions through its emergence as an American musical form, and its influence on other genres including Gospel, Spirituals, Blues, Jazz, R&B, Rock & Roll, Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, and Rap.  This unique program is a valuable way for students to see first hand how the Blues has influenced the music of today.  This program is offered in limited locations each year.

DAY:       Monday, February 6, 2017

8:05 AM  -  Report to Upper School Cafeteria
8:15 AM  -  Departure from Tenney Upper School
9:45 AM  -  Arrive at the House of Blues (orientation and seats)
10:00 AM - Performance begins
11:45 AM - Depart from Boston
12:30 PM - Lunch at Fuddruckers in Methuen (at individual expense)
1:30 PM   - Arrive at the Tenney Upper School

PLACE:    House of Blues, Boston, MA
 
COST:       $13.00    Cash or check made payable to the TENNEY GRAMMAR SCHOOL.
